The First Ukrainian Film Festival in Los Angeles Discover the courage, endurance, and humanity of Ukraine through the power of cinema

November 21–23, 2025

Welcome to the Cinema of Resilience Film Festival

FIRST UKRAINIAN DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL IN LOS ANGELES

The film festival’s mission is to bring audiences closer to the human

stories behind Ukraine’s struggle, celebrating the courage, resilience,

and creativity of those living through unimaginable challenges.

Through award-winning documentaries, it sheds light on how ordinary

Ukrainians face danger, persevere, and sustain hope, offering an

intimate window into their lives, culture, and the unbreakable spirit of

a nation. The festival seeks to inspire empathy, understanding, and

connection while honoring those who continue to fight, create, and

live with courage every day.

Message from the Presidents of the Founding Organizations

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the very first Cinema of Resilience Film Festival. The idea for this Festival was first introduced at a Ukrainian Art Center meeting by our colleague and member Luba Keske and embraced by our membership. With that vision, and in partnership with the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America and Ukrainian Culture Center, we are proud to present a program that reflects the spirit and resilience of Ukraine.

Over these days together, you will experience stories that inspire, challenge, and uplift – stories that speak to the endurance of culture and the unbreakable spirit of a nation. We thank you for joining us in supporting

Ukrainian art and artists, and for standing with us in celebrating resilience through film.

With gratitude,

Daria Chaikovsky

President of Ukrainian Art Center, Inc.

The First Ukrainian Film Festival in Los Angeles was born from a vision initiated by Luba Keske, a member of UNWLA Branch 111 in Los Angeles, whose inspiration and determination united a community devoted to sharing Ukraine’s stories with the world.

The festival is a collaborative effort led by UNWLA Branch 111, the Ukrainian Art Center, and the Ukrainian Culture Center—organizations dedicated to promoting Ukrainian culture, creativity, and truth through the power of film.

This initiative was also envisioned as a way to honor and celebrate the centennial of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA)—a milestone recognizing a century of women’s leadership, service, and advocacy for Ukraine and its people.

Each documentary presented here reflects the resilience, artistry, and spirit of Ukraine. Together, these works offer a space for reflection, dialogue, and connection, while honoring the voices that define our shared identity.

The festival stands as a testament to unity, creativity, and the enduring power of storytelling that connects Ukraine with audiences around the world.

With gratitude,

Nataliya Rylchyk

President  of UNWLA Branch 111

This Festival offers a powerful glimpse into the heart and soul of Ukrainian culture and its unbreakable spirit in the face of unspeakable horrors and adversity.   You will witness stories of despair, survival, and loss but also hope, freedom and love that stems from the will to not only persevere but triumph over darkness.

The Ukrainian Culture Center is proud to be a partner alongside the Ukrainian National Women's League of America and the Ukrainian Art Center as well as hosting this festival in our beautiful, old hall which appropriately began its life as a movie theater in the heart of Hollywood.

We welcome all to come support our artists, participate in the discussions and be part of the community that stands in solidarity with Ukraine.  Together, we celebrate the power of film to unite, inspire and uplift.

Taras Semchyshyn

President

Ukrainian Culture Center of Los Angeles.
